Frequently Asked Questions

Graduating and receiving your credential

Graduation is the term used to acknowledge that you have been approved to graduate. Convocation refers to the in-person ceremony where graduates are gowned and walk across the stage as part of the celebratory event.

If you require an official letter verifying that you have graduated from your program at Seneca, you can print or download your graduation letter from Student Home.

On-campus photography sessions will be offered to Seneca graduates throughout the spring. Graduate photography will also be available on-site during Convocation at Meridian Hall in June. Schedule your appointment.

Summer 2024 Convocation

It is an opportunity to celebrate Seneca students who graduated in April 2024.

There will be a welcome from Seneca President David Agnew and a congratulatory video from this year’s valedictorians. Graduates will wear gowns and walk across the stage.

This will be followed by a reception.

Ceremonies will take place from Saturday, June 22 to Tuesday, June 25 at Meridian Hall.

Refer to the invitation you received by email which includes the day and time of your ceremony. For a complete schedule of Summer 2024 Convocation ceremonies visit the #SenecaProud Graduation website.

All ceremonies will take place at:

Meridian Hall
1 Front St. E.
Toronto, ON

Ceremonies will be approximately two hours.

Please arrive at least one hour before your ceremony starts to register and be gowned.

If your ceremony starts at 10 a.m., arrive at 9 a.m.

If your ceremony starts at 3 p.m., arrive at 2 p.m.

Doors will open for guests one hour before ceremony start times.

Graduates are encouraged to arrive at least one hour before the ceremony begins to ensure a smooth experience crossing the stage with your classmates. If you find that you’re going to arrive to Meridian Hall 45 minutes or less before the scheduled start time, please enter through the Front St. entrance. Our staff members will be there to guide you through the next steps.

Please bring your Seneca OneCard or the email we sent confirming your registration for the ceremony.

Seneca’s Summer 2024 Convocation will be a mask-friendly event and masks will be available at the Meridian Hall entrance. To protect the health and safety of your fellow graduates and guests, please monitor your health on the day of the event, and do not attend if you are feeling ill.

Attendees cannot bring outside food or drinks to the event. Light refreshments will be provided after the ceremony.

Graduates will not be receiving their credential during the ceremony. It will be mailed in June to your courier address as it appears on Student Home. More information can be found on the credentials web page.

After you enter through the designated graduate entrance on Yonge Street, proceed to the Graduate Gowning Room to register and be gowned, then to the graduate coat check area located in the Lower Ground Level at Meridian Hall.

Weather conditions will be monitored throughout Convocation. Notifications about potential impacts to ceremonies will be shared through email and will be posted on the #SenecaProud Graduation website, MySeneca and our social media channels. Please continue to check for updates.

Credentials

You can get a replacement degree, diploma or certificate by submitting a Replacement Credential form.

A digital credential is an electronic version of your Seneca credential that may be shared with employers or other institutions to verify that you have successfully completed your academic program.

Seneca is using a new Canadian digital credential platform called MyCreds to issue academic documents electronically. These are certified and considered official, and can be shared securely with educational institutions, employers and other third parties.

You may be required to share your digital credential with educational institutions, employers or other third parties.

You can share your credential using one of the following methods:

  • through MyCreds if the recipient is a MyCreds member
  • by email – the recipient will receive an automated email containing a secure link to access your document
  • a share link – MyCreds will generate a unique link that you can share with the recipient(s) directly through email, direct messaging, etc.

These options also allow you to control the duration of time your document is available to a recipient.

Tip: Please do not download and share a PDF version of your credential as the validity of the document may be questioned by the recipient. Also, you will not have control over how long the document can be viewed or who they forward the document to.

While a printed version of your digital credential will not be an exact replica of the physical copy you receive, the electronic version does enable you to share proof that you have successfully completed your program with employers or other institutions.

To view and share your digital credential:

  1. Go to MyCreds and select “Login.”
  2. Select “Sign in with your Education Provider.”
  3. Select “Seneca College” in the “Institution” list.
  4. Enter your Seneca student email address and password.
  5. To ensure continued access, configure a personal email address and password to access your credential in the future. In the drop-down menu, select “Profile settings.” Then, select “Link Another Email” and enter your personal email address. You will receive a verification email at that email address. Make sure you confirm your email at that time to complete the process.
  6. On the “Documents” page, select the credential you wish to view. You can also share your credential with third parties from this page by selecting “Share.”

Your MyCreds account is first created using your Seneca student email, which will allow you to access your digital credential for up to one year following the completion of your program. To ensure continued access, configure a personal email address and password to access it in the future. Steps to configure a personal email address to your MyCreds account:

  1. In the drop-down menu, select “Profile settings”
  2. Select “Link Another Email” and enter your personal email address
  3. You will receive a verification email to that email address. Make sure you confirm your email at that time to complete the process

If you set an expiry date at the time you shared your document, access will automatically expire. You will still have access to your documents, but the link provided to the third party will no longer work.

If you did not set an expiry date at the time you shared your document, or if you would like to end the access early, log into your MyCreds portal, select “Sharing link” in the menu or select your document from the list. Then, select the “Access control” tab at the top of the page. From here you can view all existing shares and opt to stop sharing.
