Challenge Accepted

Sept. 9, 2021

Classes are back this week, with Seneca campuses open for essential in-person learning, teaching and working.

Seneca’s vaccination policy for the Fall 2021 Term was developed in consultation with medical and legal authorities to help protect the Seneca community from the spread of COVID-19.

Things might look and feel a bit different, but here are five things that you can do to stay safe on campus this fall.

1. Upload your COVID-19 vaccination receipts

Please make sure you have: the Seneca Safe app; the Virtual OneCard (GotMyCard) app; submitted your proof of vaccination; completed the daily self assessment

For those coming on campus for classes or work, staying in one of our residences or participating in a work placement, you’ll need to be vaccinated and show proof of vaccination.

To ensure that your vaccination status is verified before you arrive, upload an image of your COVID-19 vaccination receipts to the Seneca SAFE app no later than 48 hours before you are scheduled to be on campus. If you don’t have your receipts, you can download them from the Ontario government website.

Once verified, your vaccination status will be linked to your Seneca OneCard. Those without their OneCard identification will not be admitted on campus.

2. Complete daily health and safety screening

Seneca is continuing to monitor the situation and assess when it’s feasible to open more spaces and permit more people on campus.

Those coming on campus have already been advised of daily screening procedures at entrances, meaning you must successfully complete a daily questionnaire on your Seneca SAFE app every time you enter the campus.

For those without smart phones or the app, you’ll use a tablet at the entrance to complete the questionnaire.

3. Check in at a self-screening kiosk

When you arrive on campus, simply tap your OneCard at one of the self-screening kiosks located at designated entrances.

If all of your information is uploaded and verified, you will see an “Approved” message on the kiosk screen. You can then proceed directly to your classroom, lab or workspace.

If you don’t receive an “Approved” message, please proceed to an on-campus screening station where a Seneca representative will be able to assist you.

4. Follow Seneca’s safety protocols

You will be required to wear a face mask while indoors on campus. Any additional course-related personal protective equipment will be provided by Seneca if required.

All campus facilities, rooms and equipment are being thoroughly cleaned and sanitized on a regular basis.

Hand sanitizer stations are also available. Please wash or sanitize your hands when you arrive, after you leave your classroom or lab and when you leave campus.

5. Add money to your OneCard

Seneca is now cashless across campuses.

If you find yourself with cash only, you can use a money loader to add bills to your OneCard. There are money loaders in each of Seneca’s Computing Commons spaces.

While there is a $50 limit when adding money through the loader, larger amounts can be deposited to your OneCard at the OneCard office or through the OneCard website using Interac, Visa, MasterCard or WeChat Pay.

If you haven’t done so already, install your virtual OneCard on your smartphone and use the tap function to pay for food and beverages on campus.
